It seems even the wealthiest and most savvy businessmen can often struggle with the fundamentals. Jay-Z’s sports bar “Club 40/40” has had it’s restaurant shut down after inspectors found a number of problems which put diners at risk of serious illnesses. Club 40/40’s restaurant racked up 69 violations including workers preparing food with bare hands and failing to keep refrigerated food cold enough. The restaurant now faces the title of “C” grade which is the lowest grade for hygiene a restaurant can receive in New York.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Nokia would be forming a partnership with Microsoft in the wake of Nokia losing rapid market share in the smart phone market to the likes of Apple and Google. This “strategic alliance” would see Nokia a smartphones adopt Microsoft’s operating systems on their devices and ditch their once popular Symbian operating system. Is this a good move? Good business move, or simply a PR move? Intel Corporation, the world’s largest chipmaker, recently announced that it has appointed Black Eyed Peas frontman, Will.i.am as it’s Creative Director. His role is a hands-on creative and technology collaboration. The question that will be on everybody’s lips is whether this joint venture will actually help Intel going forward to whether it is in actual fact a marketing ploy - almost using the Will.i.am as brand ambassador. Recently, gaming is something I have personally developed a passion for. It was recently reported that the gaming industry is set to lose billions to chipped consoles and pirated games. A popular argument of these hackers, is that purchasing official games are far too expensive (upon initial release which is typically a figure in excess of £40). Fellow gamers/technology buffs, what are your thoughts on chipped/hacked/modded gaming consoles? Are the hackers justified in their argument that official games are too expensive? Would you run the risk of potential damage to your console to save money on pirated games? Steve Jobs to Apple, is what Sir Richard Branson is to the Virgin brand or Sir Alex Ferguson is to Manchester United F.C. A couple of days ago, it was announced that Jobs was set to take medical leave. The obvious question this is posing is that whether Apple can actually still remain successful, despite the fact the one person that has arguably been responsible for their recent success not being present on a daily basis. You may remember a couple of days ago I wrote an article on Ryan Babel getting in a spot of bother over his antics on Twitter. The BBC reported today that Liverpool star Babel has been £10,000 over the tweet and warned about his future conduct. By no means a whopping amount for a footballer that commands in excess of four times that amount for a weeks’ work but was his punishment just for voicing his opinion? Whatever happened to MySpace?

Recent reports suggest that the once leading social networking site has announced that it will be cutting it’s global workforce by 47% (500 jobs). While Facebook and Twitter have flourished, the site which was worth £372m in 2005 has struggled. But why so? Is it just the Facebook/Twitter competition? Has MySpace struggled to adapt? MySpace is certainly missing a trick here and the future does look bleak. What do you think happened to MySpace to result in this prolific fall from grace? Recently Twitter has seemed to be getting a lot of people in the public eye in a spot of hot water. We can take for instance Russell Brand who posted a somewhat glamorous picture of Katy Perry minus what seems to be her typical layers of make up. According to one article however the singer is allegedly plotting revenge upon her husband so it’ll be interesting to see what comes of that!

On a more serious note however, it was just today that Liverpool FC player Ryan Babel was charged by the FA over comments he made on Twitter. Shortly after Liverpool suffered a defeat at the hands of Manchester United the Liverpool star cleverly incorporated his Adobe Photoshop skills (to which I can imagine seasoned professionals with this program would be impressed) to create a mock up of referee Howard Webb sporting Manchester United strip obviously implying Webb is a biased referee. Something which is clearly a joke has

Something which was clearly intended as a joke has got the Liverpool striker in a lot of trouble. Should Ryan Babel have got in trouble for his comments and picture upload? I am fed up of Virgin Media - more specifically it’s broadband service. It’s adverts claim it to possess the fastest download speeds but I have to say that I do not stand in agreement with this bold claim. In addition to this, I am not the only one to be having problems with the service. A friend of mine claimed he actually had no access to the Internet for a couple of days due to poor service. I am forever having problems with my internet connection. Whether it I want to watch a 4 minute music video or have a game of FIFA online I cannot seem to get an adequate level of service. To make matters worse if you do have technical problems their call centres can conveniently only be reached on premium rate numbers and they are all out sourced to India I believe. Not very useful all!

I remember very well when the Internet Service Provider (ISP) was initially launched, it claimed to be “The Mother Of All Broadband”. Not in my book! Virgin Media please get your act together!

Like technological advancements and new websites, I am always on the look out for new business ventures and the people behind these ventures. With articles like this in my Office, not only can you get an insight into what the business venture actually is but it also promotes it which is handy for the respective business person. I am always on the look out for new, interesting and innovative websites but now you can look no further than http://www.harry-aa-official.com/ the website of GB athlete Harry Aikines-Aryteey.

Harry is a good friend of mine and his website was recently launched in the build up to the London 2012 Olympics (in which I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that he will be on the start line for the 100 metre final).

What I find really innovative about this site is that it has a calendar which details what Harry’s been up to (more recently he was invited to the Halo:Reach launch alongside the likes of Rio Ferdinand and Amelle Berrabah of the Sugababes and as a previous winner of the Young Sport Personality of the Year he has also been involved with that).

I certainly endorse this sight especially as he promotes the infamous Ghanaian dish “Jeloff Rice” under the “Cooking With Harry” section (a personal favourite of mine!) If you take a shine to track and field athletics ensure you visit the site and get behind one the best medal prospects GB has ahead of London 2012.

With the latest series of the Apprentice starting tomorrow, I thought it was only right and fitting that I write a short article on the one and only Lord Alan Sugar. Samsung have recently launched their ‘Galaxy Tab’, a worthy competitor to the iPad. The device will run Google’s Android operating system with a capacity of 16GB or 32GB (which is expandable by 32GB more). Vodafone will be distributing this new device in the UK and European markets.
